GOD IT'S FAST!
Mozilla has set its sights on the mobile browser experience and has
setup Fennec (code name for Firefox 3 on mobile tablets) to the
developers across the planet to make it the best web browser for mobile
devices.
Here's some of the webpages showing the current thinking:
http://wiki.mozilla.org/Mobile/UI/De...reen/Proposal6
and the base wiki at mozilla is on:
http://wiki.mozilla.org/Mobile
Pay particular attention to the Fennec vision statement. Instead of
being stupid and proprietary and trying to get the web to produce
special content for a half-assed browser that doesn't support standard
web addons and devices, Firefox 3 Fennec is designed to provide FULL WEB
BROWSING to take advantage of advanced webpages enjoyed on your desktop
already...AJAX, Javascript, Flash, etc.
More information comes from ARS on:
http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post...ozilla-fennec-
targets-handheld-browser-market.html
Pay particular attention to the comparison with the Mozilla Micro-B
browser currently included with all the Nokia N8xx Linux tablets running
OS2008 kernel. It runs Javascript 5.9 times FASTER than Micro-B!
You'll also notice it running on Windows Mobile at the bottom.
TRY IT FOR YOURSELF!
Those with tablets that would like to play with the new toy in its early
development stage on their Nokia N8xx Linux tablets can use the Maemo
install Bergie wrote for it on his blog:
http://bergie.iki.fi/blog/numpty_physics_and_fennec-
the_tablet_is_becoming_more_fun.html
The install click is right above the Fennec screen in the text.
While you're there, you might as well install "Numpty Physics", the
Maemo port of Crayon Physics, to elminate any possibility of getting any
useful work done for a few days as you try to figure out how to get that
damned red ball OVER the tree, the only way to get it to touch the
yellow star so you can accomplish the task and move on with life.
They shouldn't let Physicists anywhere near video game hackers! It's
just too dangerous and REALLY FRUSTRATING to the poor users, like me,
trying to figure it out. I'll only give you ONE help....The full screen
key pops up a menu you can drag around out of your way, but with useful
devices at the bottom. You figure out how to make the rest of it work.
Noone helped me all last night. This is one helluva great game! You
can even make your own scenarios!....(c;
.....discoveries of Fennec.....It's not ready for users, so things you're
going to look for are missing. Read the webpages, especially the
Mozilla wiki to help you get its basic functions running. It was
designed with the keyboard on the N810 in mind. I have an N800 but
found all the functions work great when I fire up my Nokia Bluetooth
folding keyboard, which is better to type on, anyways....so there.
You'll need the external keyboard to use it on the N800/OS2008 combo.
GOD IT'S FAST! Webpages just go BLINK.....on wifi, of course...(c;
Safari my ass.......(c;

Fennec also installs full blown Firefox "Minefield" (Firefox 3) I hadn't
seen. This is the whole interface. Fennec is the simplified interface for
mobile tablets. IT RUNS BOTH! Way cool.
Now:

I suppose we could just run it all under Linux's KDE. Watch THIS video!
Cool....very cool....cooler every day.
Damned hackers...let me sleep!
