I have a 3330 on which the voice dialling has stopped working. If I try
and use it I get "Voice system error" and the phone then sometimes (but
    not always) restarts itself.

I took it to a large local dealer (not a Nokia service centre) who looked
at it and said it needed the firmware upgrading. I left it with them as
they were busy and I didn't have time to wait (it's only a spare handset
anyway). They rang me back today saying they can't do it as the phone
isn't accepting the flash upgrade (no more details given) and they wanted
my permission to send it to Nokia.

I told them no as I didn't want to incur any more expense than what they
were going to charge me to flash it, and I don't really make use of voice
dialling on it anyway, I intended to sell it and wanted it working
properly beforehand, and it wasn't going to be worth spending loadsamoney
on it as it's probably not worth an awful lot 2nd hand anyway.

Does anyone know why the phone would not accept the upgrade..? Is it worth
me taking it directly to Nokia..? It's a couple of years old so well out
of warranty, as I said all I wanted to do was get it working 100% so I
could sell it, but if it's going to cost me I might as well just chuck it
in a drawer as an emergency spare.

Update, it turns out the dealer I took the 3330 to *is* a Nokia service
centre, although nowhere in their premises does it actually say so..!

When I went in to collect the phone, it wasn't working at all, in fact it
won't even power up. They say a component called "MAD2" has failed, and
that this is why they can't flash it. (Not as mad as I am at the
    moment..!)

They say it will have to be returned to Nokia, at a charge of £43.50..!
(They originally quoted me £19 for the flash). I only took it in because
the voice dialling function wasn't working, now all I've got is a
paperweight..! If I have to pay £43.50 to get it fixed, I'm not going to
make anything selling it, I don't suppose it's worth much above that
anyway, it's 2 years old and well out of warranty.

I really expect better service from what is supposed to be an official
    Nokia service centre.

As long as I could get it to flash that is...
Why don't I buy it off you for a tenner, and I'll either use it as parts or
    fix it!
