I purchased a 5165 off eBay for $5 and the pixels for the bottom line don't
work (where it usually says Select) - I think I can live with this and want
to activate it as an emergency phone using eCallplus.

Question - what are my chances good that the screen will continue to lose
more pixels and I won't be able to view the screen?
Question - can anyone tell me the cheapest phone to get without having to
buy service - all I want is an emergency phone with the prepaid minutes. I
checked the Nokia site with rebate (for turning in old phone) but they are
too costly for what I want.
    Thanks! DonnaB

A line of defective pixels is usually as a result of the phone being
    dropped.

Thanks for the response but I need to know if additional pixels will be
affected - in other word if the problem will get worse. If not I will keep
the phone. Also would appreciate if anyone knows of a cheap NEW phone I
could use to activate prepaid service. Donna Becker

As far as I am aware, this problem will not spread. A friend of mine dropped
an 8210 and a line of pixels stopped working. A year later, none of the
    other pixels had been effected.
