I am possibly going to purchase a faulty 6310 for around £20, perhaps a bit
under. Its fault is that it often has no signal, but some of the time it
    does.

I know I can easily get hold of a replacement antenna, but at first glance,
does it sound like this is the most likely cause of the problem? Also, is it
easy to replace the antenna myself? Any illustrated guides around perhaps?

    Many thanks in advance.

If the phone has been used in a car kit , it is most likely the connection
that plugs the ariel to the car kit , 5 min soldering job .
