I am attempting to update an 8210 to an 8250.
Have some experience of flashing and OK up to now.
All of the guides I have read state that I need the 8250 eeprom. Is this
downloaded the same as the PCU/PPM or combined files?
All help appreciated

Re: 8210 to 8250
I wouldn't bother.
8210 has more checksums and when I tried all I got was no signal. If you
do play here make sure you back the flash up fully first!
It also requires ROM 6 to be present.
Better off flashing it to 5.31.

Thanks for the reply. I did a backup first and all is back as it was. I
checked it was ROM 6 and got to the point where it said 'contact service'. Out
of curiosity, is there a file for the EEPROM or is it something done via the
flasher software for example?
TIA

Re: 8210 to 8250
I tried once in the past before 2002, when the law changed, but for what I'd
have charged for it then, it really wasn't worth my while to get it sussed
out, when I could charge the same to update an 8210 to 5.31 (which was easy
as had LP2001). 8250 is lots of fiddling and I could only get no signal
after or checksum errors after amending the data to that of the phones - I
don't do anything that touches the IMEI number in any way now...It has no
benefit to me or my freedom
- It is COMPLETELY no go in the UK now, because using different eeproms
means tampering with the IMEI or you would create a clone phone if you left
it with the unmodified eeprom you *borrowed*. If I were you, I'd just
update the firmware to 8210 5.31. Or buy a new (later to be unlocked)
8310/7210 LOL...
- However, upgrades to 3215 or 3315 are fine because they are a switch and
therefore do not touch the IMEI in any way!
IMHO, changing 8210 to 8250 or 3330 to 3350 are illegal therefore, because
they need new eeproms and the personal identifier is manipulated as a
result. Therefore I won't do these upgrades... 3350 also needs a new
screen. Just get a 3410!

Mole,
Thanks for the reply, makes a hell of a lot more sense now.
I've been lurking in this group for years, with the odd post. Have done all the
usual Logomanager etc. stuff but been too cautious to try flashing etc.
I've got newer phones that I use, the 3310 and 8210 etc are old and for practice
really.
Managed the 3310 to 3315 OK, just couldn't suss the 8250 EEPROM bit; didn't
realise the potential of the question I was asking LOL!
Thanks again,
Mark
