The 6310i's menu system has me a bit perplexed.

The "first" (top) level menu is accessable by pressing the Menu
button them entering the number between 1 and 12 (is it?) and the
phone goes straight to that entry.

So if you want to get to the menu entry in the "middle" you don't
have to scroll to it. You just enter the number.

However, after entering that level, you can't do it anymore.

This is very annoying with the phonebook's options.

It has a lot of options and I sometimes want to get to the 6'th
    option.

    (Say edit name)

I have to scroll down to the 6'th entry.

    Ok, the "quandry":

All the screens show a scroll bar with numbers beside each entry.
Why do they do that if it is not accessible other than scrolling to
it? There is an indicator which shows how far down the list you are
so you can judge how "big" the menu list is.

    Anyone?
    Comments?

If you're using the Menu -> Option -> Second option by number buttons, then
what you're saying works fine (i.e. pressing Menu -> 11 -> 2 will take you
straight to the bluetooth search for audio accessories option). You just
don't pause between button presses (i.e. if you pause after the 11 then
press 2 it'll back out of the menu and enter a "2" as if the start of a
    phone number).

In the phone book, this doesn't work, as pushing Names -> 6 won't take you
to Add Number, but will take you to Names starting with M.

All seems pretty obvious to me, and scrolling down 6 places isn't that much
    hassle really anyway.

Ah! Thanks. Didn't think of pressing the buttons quickly.

No maybe not a "hassle" but why do they assign numbers to them if
there is no way of accessing them by the number?

The proportional scroll bar is good enough, but the number is
    redundant.

But they *are* accessible by number only. You just can't pause
forever before pressing the second number. To get menu 13 for
services for example just press menu/1-3 with no pauses and you will
be taken to the services menu directly.
