hey guys......
I have a nokia 8250 and a data cable i purchased from circuit central
http://www.circuitcentral.com.au/prod12.htm
and am trying to connect my phone to my PC, the problem is
i just cant get my pc to see the phone i have also tried to connect a
5110 with a fbus/mbus data cable i aquired from Tandy's and also
cannot get the PC to recognize a connection
I have an Intel P4 and a D845EBG2 motherboard and am running Win XP
and have tried nearly ALL software i can get my hands on, including
Oxygen Phone Manager II
Nokia PC Suite 5.1
Logomanager
Knok
Rolis Tools (with and without Userport enabled)
WinTelsa 6.03
and various other progs found at enthusiast sites
I have tried all different port configurations under the device
manager for com1 and com2 changing irq setting ranges etc...
still absolutely NOTHING
Im sure its not the phone and i doubt respectible companies would be
selling cables that didnt work.. so i guess its something else but the
com port accepts my modem and works fine and nothing else i have tried
or guides i have followed work. I dont have access to another PC to
test phone/cables/software and am getting very frustrated..
Is there anyone out there who could advise me or point me in the right
direction as to whats going wrong and how i can remedy this, if you
can it would be GREATLY APPRECIATED
thanks !!

You will need a program called user port to tell XP to allow the programs
access to the com ports.

Also could be due to BIOS settings- check that the COM ports are under
standard mode and not one of the xxxIR (IRDA modes).

Thanks RAZO for feedback, have already tried all configurations for
com ports in BIOS as well as Device Manager and the actual phone
software and did not achieve sucessful connection.
Have returned possible faulty cable for exchange and am waiting for
return.
On another note : How many of you guys out there are having success
with the USB data cables ? Whats the compatibility like and do they
allow for full mbus/fbus operation ??
thanks again !!

could be a bad cable all along as u said.. i havent tried out USB cables
yet... personally i'd use serial port cables... i believe they're more
compatible for the older models (non colour screen); but with a colour
screen go for USB.
