says in part:
After the introduction of wireless number portability, anywhere from 12 million
to 18 million people are expected to switch who wouldn't have done so
otherwise, says David Meredith, vice president at American Management Systems,
a communications consulting company in Fairfax, Va. That's in addition to the
36% of wireless customers who already switch their provider each year,
according to company research.

Maybe. But I find it hard to believe there's *no* overlap.

I wonder how many of that 36% is prepaid business? Technically, a customer
would 'churn' if they decided to pick up a new phone instead of recharging
their current one ( can you say "Street Corner Pharmacist"?). And if they
go from prepay to postpay service, they would also be a churn candidate.

Don't all carriers have prepaid business, which would also similarlyy affect
their churn rates, still leaving Sprint{CS with highest churn rate?

I should have been more specific- I was really talking about prepay only
services.

1. The article (and the tiny little portion you snipped from it) talks
about industry numbers. Sprint PCS is not mentioned specifically.
2. If prepay is included in the number, then it is not a true indicator of
real churn. Prepay accounts are meant to provide temproray service in many
cases, and the dropping of that account is not a concern to a carrier. In
other cases, prepay is designed for high risk customers. These are
customers that the carriers will not extend credit to, and typically the
most likely to churn.
If prepay is included in this number, it is not an accurate portrayal of the
true churn number.

But regardless of how you count it, SprintPCS churnb is highest in industry and
increasing.

Nope- if the press is including pre-pay, it is a misrepresentation of the
true state of affairs. Companies want prepay customers to 'churn'- it make
more profit for them when they have to activate a new phone.

Re: How to Exploit the New Cell-Phone Rules
Prove that prepays count in churn, and then prove Sprint has a higher
percentage of prepays than others, otherwise it doesnt matter.

An apparent attempt by the factless resident Sprint troll to obsfucate the
truth. He has no facts to back up his claim, and is simply trying to hide
the truth from the users of this group.
That sound about right? Does it have the proper tone? You provided the
numbers- you back them up. And if you can't, then stop posting things you
know nothing about. The burden is not on me- you posted something, and I'm
calling you on the accuracy of the numbers, and what they include. It is
now time to put up or shut up.

Re: How to Exploit the New Cell-Phone Rules
No, the SprintPCS apologist stole the term I used on him, as he wants to
obfuscate SprintPCS's high churn by throwing prepaid into the mix. The burden
is upon you to proce that prepaid makes a difference. SprintPCS hasnt tried to
use that excuse, why do you?
SprintPCS asmitted that its churn was up instead of down in the October 23
quarterly report to the SEC. That and its poor performance adding customers,
losing market share, and losing money caused its stock price to stock.
So what is it that gets Scott so upset about that, what's his tie to SprintPCS.

No backup for your number? THen it is worthless. If you care to post
things, you should at least understand the reasoning behind the numbers.
Your title of troll loser still applies.

Yet another thing you have been able to prove. But, go ahead and try- I'm
always up for a good laugh.

Your URL doesn't even mention SprintPCS, which has the highest (and increasing)
churn in the industry.
