Are there any other (new) phones besides those shown on the SPCS
website/store that will work on the SPCS network? A while back I
thought I saw a phone only available at Radio Shack but for the SPCS
network. Am still looking for a small thin clamshell phone and don't
need no steenkin cam.

SPCS is about ready to release a few new phones, one of which is a Sanyo
5400. http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?id=372

I haven't had a chance to hold it, but the Samsung VI660 (aka A660)=20
could be for you. It looks to be pretty imminent in release, and will=20
support the new SMS once we get that going.

That does look very small, and the non-train voice dial looks
interesting. Thx

Looks good, wish they would specify the size/weight though. Thx

Re: Any other phones besides those on SPCS website?
If you just need 2G I would suggest an A460. Its what I use & it is super
thin & light.
The 5400 is the new Ready Link 'Push to talk' phone. It's a little thicker
and heavier than the 8100 (camera phone), also going to be a bit pricey.
However I will say it has awesome graphics, very easy to use, and the ready
link feature works really well.

Re: Any other phones besides those on SPCS website?
There are many cell phones that SprintPCS stopped selling that are still
available elsewhere. Some recent examples are the Sanyo 4900 and the Samsung
i330. They can be found on Amazon.com, in some Radio Shacks, and on eBay.
Phones that SprintPCS has never sold may be phones that SprintPCS will not
activate should you buy one.

I don't work for SprintPCS
I never worked for SprintPCS
I can be honest

Re: Any other phones besides those on SPCS website?
Big gotcha with the PTT phones. Many folks on the Verizon group complaining
about the Motorola v60p (their PTT phone) and since SprintPCS is going to use a
similar technology, it will likely have the same issue.
One feature of PTT is being able to identify which of your contacts is
available. How does the SprintPCS network know that a phone is available? In
Verizons'case, the phone checks into the network every 5 minutes to tell it its
available. Fine, except that makes for a serious drain on the battery. And
folks are complaining the battery life is less than 1 day, even when doing
"nothing". Cause even when doing nothing, its effectively making a call every 5
minutes.
So the Sanyo 5400 likely will have the same issue.
