I'll be eager to see some real benchmarks and see if they'll offer
"all you can eat data" from handsets for $15/month.

    $80 /month for unlimited data.

    http://www.attwireless.com/speed/

but its for use with an AT&T Wireless modem card, not for phones.

It appears that their nationwise EDGE deployment won't be complete
    until mid 2004:

    "EDGE everywhere by mid-2004 - AT&T Wireless"

    http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/59/34090.html

If it triples the throughput of GPRS then, the 20-40 kbps (20-30 kbps
I've read elsewhere) then we can expect 60-90kbps, but read an excerpt
    from the URL:

"EDGE supports bit rates of 110 to 130 kbits/second with higher
bursts, a significant improvement over the 20-40 kbits/second most
users experience today, although in saturated areas, the speed can
drop to as slow as 10 kbit/s. It's really a bundle of radio
enhancements including better encoding and retransmission."

I've gotten a burst of 104 kbps with SPCS, and get median speeds of
about 72 kbps (via my Sanyo 6400).

Like GSM was ever "complete" and yet they call it that. If I wanted a GSM
service, I would use T-Mobile and NOT AT&T.

Like SprintPCS is nationwide, except SprintPCS doesn't consider Alaska part of
    our nation.

Shouldn't your subject line have read:

"AT&T claims its now faster than EVERYONE for data"?

[email protected] is not happy unless he finds a reason to
criticise me. I had the link to the article so feel free to read it.

Thanks for blatently de-munging the email address again- your childish
little games won't work, though. Try posting the truth sometime.

I do and then you insult me instead of discussing it.
