Can anyone steer this rookie to information, harware, software on how to do
this, i.e., basically have the i500 serve as a wireless modem for a Dell
Inspirion 700? Would greatly appreciate any assistance.

I just did this with my new i500. When I installed the drivers from the CD,
it installed a CDMA Modem driver for the i500. So when the phone is
connected to the computer via the USB port, the laptop thinks there is
another modem attached to the computer. I just selected that modem to dial
to my ISP instead of my internal modem in my laptop and wham, I'm online
thru my i500....very slick....thanks Samsung....it's actually pretty fast
too....much better than what I was previously using....

    Cheers,

Wow ... sounds really cool! I noticed the install of the CDMA Modem driver
and sus[ected this might be what it was for. Gonna give it a try. Thanks
    for your response.

One thing I forgot to ask ... rather than using the dock with AC adapter
that comes with the phone, is there a cable available to directly attach the
i500 to the USB port on the computer? If so, does the Sprint store carry or
does one have to purchase elsewhere?

http://www.boxwave.com for $16. Data/sync cables for the Samsung I500 that
also charge the phone via the USB port.

Re: Connecting Samsung i500 to a laptop PC

I am using a product from "boxwave" called the minisync. it is a usb to i500
retractable cable which charges, lets me use the i500 as a modem for my
computer, and acts as a data cabe. works great, and is 50% off at their
    website!

I'm using it on a mac.
