Anyone else getting frustrated over Sprint PCS lack-luster support for the
Qualcomm QCP-2700 phone. I mean, how many Sprint Stores must I go to before
I can find one which has a cable to allow me to update my PRL. (2700 does
not have over-the-air PRL update capability). Been to nearly half a dozen
stores and all I get is a puzzled look from the support person saying they
don't have a cable for my phone. No explanation, no solution, just a dumb
    look on their face.

What gives? They sell you a phone, but don't support it later. Anyone else
    have this problem?

As much as that was a great phone ... it's an old phone. A real old phone.
I'd imagine it's been at least 3 years since SPCS discontinued sales for it.

It's time to retire that phone and get yourself a new one ...

Are you sure the 2700 doesn't have over the air prl update capability? I
re-activated my mother's 2700 in October. I bought it for her new
several years ago, and as of october, it had 5 minutes, 55 seconds on
the lifetime call timer. I asked for a prl update, and went through the
motions, but I don't remember checking to see if the prl "took." I'll
likely see the phone later today. Despite the limited use of the phone,
it showed very poor battery life, so I called Sprint to cancel, and they
offered me a free 3588i with a 1 year and no activation fee.

Good phone, but Sprint will probably give you a better one. Now, if only
my Z-Phone wasn't so old... I liked that phone.

Considering that the QCP-2700 is a 1997-era phone and hasn't been
manufactured since 1999 (I know, I had one), you have to realize that
over time, there's going to be a period where a company will stop
supporting such a product. It's like asking Dell to do a firmware
upgrade on the BIOS of your 1997-era Optiplex desktop computer, or
asking Microsoft to continue issuing patches for windows 98 (they
stopped supporting Win98, by the way).

In fact, I don't think Sprint will even activate a QCP-2700 anymore, as
it doesn't support separate MIN and MDN entires, as mandated for number
    portability.

Yup, my manage page now shows my phone as "Unknown Device".

This would depend on the MDN/MSID pair that the billing system
generates. In some markets and depending on the MDNs available at the
time of activation, the pair could be the same # in which case the 2700
    could be activated.
