I have now had my VGA1000 (A620) for a week now. Overall I am extremely
happy with this phone, if it weren't for a few "issues", then this phone
    would be perfect.

The biggest problem with the phone is it experiences occasional "bugs".
Often times the phone will exit out of whatever the current application is
and reset. Several times, I have been in the middle of making a phonebook
entry, when the phone decides to exit out of the phonebook programming menu
and revert back to the default screensaver/display. I then have to go back
and re-enter all the information that was just lost. I haven't been able to
attribute this resetting to anything other than plain 'ol software bugs. It
has happened when I was browsing the web, entering phonebook data, playing
games, etc.... I am hoping a future software update can take care of this.

I have also had trouble with the ringer volume settings. When I am at
work, I leave the phone on vibrate. Driving in a vehicle, I turn the ringer
back on. At home, I usually leave the ringer on until I want to go to
sleep, then I turn the ringer to off or vibrate. Every once in a while, I
will hear my cell phone ring at night when I am in bed. I sleep upstairs
while my phone charges downstairs, so I usually can't hear it unless I am
awake. This means my phone is ringing even though I have set the ringer to
either off or vibrate. I think I am just going to have to start turning it
Off completely before going to bed.

One annoyance I have experienced with this phone, is a high-pitched
whine, squeal, buzz, ringing, whatever you want to call it can be heard
through the earpiece every once in a while while carrying on a conversation
    on this phone.

Other than those annoyances, this phone has been a pleasure to use. Not a
single dropped call this first week. I usually experience at least one or
two dropped calls everyday when using my Nextel (my company has used nextel
for several years due to the free two-way capabilities) from the same
locations. I don't know if it is the PCS network or the phones, but nextel
doesn't even come close to the "useability" of this phone over my work
    nextel.

I've had mine for less than a week, so far so good.

That's happened to me one time. Too bad we couldn't load all our
address book settings on a web page somewhere and then download them
into the phone. I'd like to do it "over the air" instead of with a
    data cable.

I have no idea why you leave your phone on at night if you have no
intention of getting up to answer it. Turn it off while you are
    sleeping.

I've experienced one other strange "bug." I had my phone "locked" so
that no unauthorized calls could be made until I unlocked it. The
phone was in my jacket pocket (loose fitting windbreaker.) I pulled
into a gas station to get gas, and heard this strange beeping sound. I
pulled out my phone and discovered in was in some type of strange
software loop, it kept saying something about the phone being locked
and only authorized calls could be made, beeping the entire time. The
only way to clear it was to shut it off. I've tried duplicating this
problem by locking the phone and pushing various buttons but could
never get it to happen again.

    Software/PRL is as follows:
    PRL: 10020
    S: ES.A620 WG09
    H: A620.11

There is a software update in final testing. WJ09. It was actually, at=20
one time, scheduled to be out already. If you have the number to a=20
nearby service center, you might want to check back with them now and=20
again to find out when they have it.

It's listed as a resolution for a bug where some phones suddenly=20
announce that voice calls cannot be made while in an active data=20
session, but there's no apparent data session in progress. I don't know=20
what, if anything, else it'll be aimed to resolve.

Re: 1st week with Samsung VGA1000

Many phones behave this way and some consider it a feature. The
assumption is that if the phone is on the charger then it's not on your
person and you won't be able to feel it vibrate, so when being charged,
it temporarily rings instead of vibrates.

I just verified it with my A620 (VGA1000).
Use the side key to set the ringer to vibrate, plug in the charger, call
    it, it rings.
Use the side key to set the ringer to off, plug in the charger, call it,
it lights up but remains silent.

Oh okay. now I get it. Thanks for the info. I never even thought about
the charger having anything to do with it. I guess it does make sense.
I'll just have to turn the phone off at night.

I sure hope the upcoming software update takes care of the random resets
    too.
