I like Sprint and have a primary phone with 2 add-a-phones on the same
account. Just for future reference I was wondering what my early termination
charges would be in the event that I had an experience that caused me to
want to leave. Would I be liable for a single $150 fee or for $150/line of
    service?

It depends. All new add-a-phone (AAP) subscriptions are=20
required to have contracts on them, or pay an extra=20
    $10/month. But that's pretty recent.

If your AAP subscriptions have a contract, then each one=20
    pays $150.

Thanks for the info. I have recently signed up for a new 2 year contract and
the inclusion of a contact expiration date on the plan descriptions of my
add-a-phones is actually what triggered my question since I don't remember
seeing that before. I don't think it's going to be an issue for me but $450
to cancel my contract is certainly more of a deterrent than $150 would be.

Which is indeed why they implemented this measure. Of course, if they
subsidied the phones that you use for add-a-phones it would have been
this way before as well (we bought an add-a-phone at promotional price
for my Wife and it came with a one-year contract as well).

Add-a-Phone's do not carry a contract of their own. So, you would only be
liable for a termination fee on the primary line.

Add a phones do carry a contract of their own. But that is a recent
development, w/i the last 3-6 months.

By the way, don't trust the supposed contract expiration dates on Sprint's
Web site--they're all goofed up and totally unreliable. They do not
necessarily bear any relationship to actual historical facts nor to the
    information quoted by Sprint reps.

No, not until about six months ago. Before that, one could indeed activate
a new phone, with full rebate, as an Add-a-Phone, and then cancel early
without penalty (but not until the rebate check clears!). This is probably
why Sprint began demanding (around August 2003) that each rebate be
    associated with a contract.

    Re: Cancelling contract w/add-a-phones

Must be a market-specific thing then, because as of as recently as
Saturday there was no contract on Add-a-Phones here in the
Richmond/Virginia Beach market (Sprint PCS corporate area).

Now, customers who add an Add-a-Phone and take advantage of special promos
and rebates are required to renew the contract on the primary line, but
the secondaries still do not carry a contract. I do not know if they are
required to renew the primary line's contract if you're adding a phone and
not taking advantage of promos, but will find out.
