readylink service

Couple of questions. Anyone using readylink that used nextel before, how do they compare? How is the lag time connecting to someone, does the speed dial button assiging work better then having to go through the phonebook? Does it do a beep thing like nextels when you try someone?

Overall thoughts on it compared to nextel's direct connect, pros cons? Also, is one of the three phones better for the service then the others or do they all seem to work about the same?

Yeah, it beeps. And then you see a "Floor is open"=20
notification onscreen if a call is completed and no one is=20
talking.

Our lag time is more. I can only test within the call=20
center, but I'm seeing about 3-6 seconds to establish a=20
call, 1-2 seconds to transmit once a call is in progress.

I *don't* speak for them.

I have used both. Nextel is better when you are able to use thier small
calling area. There is absolutly no wait time with them. With Ready Link
there is a very small delay but still definatly a lot better than Verizon.
I am extremely happy with Ready Link. The VM 4500 is definatly the best
phone to get. It has a lot more features, is durable, and better battery
life.

I'm curious about this "absolutely no wait time" with Nextel.
I've never even held a Nextel phone in my own hands,
but I usually observe Nextel users waiting with a blank expression
of anticipation on their faces until they hear that annoying chirp,
so that they can press their own PTT button and reply (usually loudly).
Why isn't that waiting time called a Nextel delay?

What phone did you used that 'beeped'? When using a VM4500 a month ago
there was no 'beep'... you just had to start talking and hope the person you
were contacting wasn't in an area that your obtrusive call would interupt
them at.

I've tested mine against some of the phones in the call center. The=20
phone beeps when I try to establish a call, and again then the call goes=20
through (opening the floor). When receiving a RL call, it beeps. =20
Weakly, but it beeps.
