My current retention plan has expired, but it still seems like a good
deal:
- $40/month - 750 anytime minutes
- 8pm night/weekends
- Free Sprint-to-Sprint
My main concern is retiring my old Samsung A500. Due to rough
service, it's overdue for the old boneyard.
A few questions regarding recent experience with Retention Plans:
1. Equipment Credit - What's the current maximum? Last year, they
gave me $150 credit, and I bought a new A500.
2. Equipment Credit Will they just swap out my A500 for a new
phone?
3. Are they still offering deals with only a one-year extension?
4. Sprint's been advertising 7pm start for night/weekend minutes for
-new- accounts. Any experience lowering the start time on retention
plans?
5. Has anyone been able to find a deal on a Sanyo VM4500?
6. Any other advice?

As SprintPCS wants to average $60 per customer, lately they seem less
willing to offer the killer deals they did a year ago when they wanted
to try to lower their churn rates.
1 & 2 & 5. You wont get if you dont ask, so ask what they can do for you.
3. Mostly they only are talking 2 year contracts now.
4. 7 PM nights are easily avialable at $5 /month

For you, you might get a $75 credit, as that phone hasn't been on the same
number for 18 consecutive months.

Probably not.

Yes, but you might get more perks by going with a 2 year contract.

You will have to go with a new two year contract.
What you need to look at, is how you are using your minutes now. If you find
that you spend a lot of time between 7:00 to 8:00 PM on calls, and you are
running short of your AT minutes, you might want to consider it. And ... if
you do go with a 2 year contract, you might have more leeway to a higher
credit on a new phone, up to $150. No guarantees though, as you are on the
bottom layer of the monthly revenues SPCS earns off of you, paying only
$40/mo.

Sorry, I haven't been pricing those out. Sometimes you will find better
deals through Best Buy or any of the other big electronic stores.

Before calling SPCS, review the plans for the competitors in your area, so
that you are familiar with them. When speaking to the rep, tell them you've
been looking at the competitors plans and cost of phones, that you are happy
with SPCS and see whether they can match any of the deals.
