blackicehaven has apperantly been banned from Ebay for his stunt of selling
referrals, so here are more lamers that should be shut down.

kingoftheocean (how is he doing $20 without scamming the referral
program!?)

I guess we all did our jobs in getting that blackicehaven idiot shut down.

Re: More Ebay referral scammers
When you ( or anyone for that matter ) come across these people, can you
post the e-bay links?
The more people sending in these 'items' into the fraud department from
different people, the better.
I have sent in links from the NG ( when they spam anyway ) to both the
carriers, their ISP, Paypal ( or other payment processing places )
and e-bay.
Every little bit helps.
Seems to help keep spamming down as well. Not sure if it's true or not but,
I can't stand to sit around and let the spammers and scammers get away with
it. ;-)

Do you have a direct email addy to the fraud dept? I couldn't find one, and
the addresses I creatively tried i.e.: [email protected] &
[email protected] bounced.

Sprint PCS and / or eBay must have taken action as I see no such
"cell numbers to use for referrals" auctions on ebay today.

Helps who? The #733 system is automated and you need both the referrer and
referees # to make it work so SPCS isn't getting hurt. Or are you sayin you
care that there's folks stupid enough to bite on such a lame offer? Let
Darwin thin the herd a little, will ya?
(not sure why you guys getting your panties in a wad over this pisses me
off, but it does --- so stop being a RAT and let Darwin teach a few lessons
already)

Re: More Ebay referral scammers
From the few times I have done it, I have gotten a good response from the
'contact us' link at the bottom of the main page ( without being logged on
to your account. ). It opens up a web-post form.
I just send em a little subject line like "possible fraud" and copy/paste
the e-bay link url.
They send me a response back saying they have notified e-bay and are
contacting the individual/store/vendor.
Whether they are or not, is another story. ;-)

Re: More Ebay referral scammers
True, but, if they are doing this, what else are they doing?
Scammers are scammers.
Most fraud depts work overtime on this stuff and if we can help them out a
bit, maybe we can stop something later one down the road.
Especially in the case of crooked SprintPCS resellers. I always have to ask
what else are they scamming out of you if they are doing this?
Are they also selling peoples/subscribers info to make money? It's not so
much the individual, it's the crooked dealers that get me. ;-)
Plus, it's one less possible post of "I got screwed by E-Bay scam
artist/dealer" in this NG. ;-)

Re: More Ebay referral scammers
Scanning blackicehaven's former referral scam sales, he made at least a
grand or two off of his scamming.
Every freaking scammer like that causes every one of us to pay higher rates,
endure service reps possibly being farmed out to India, and so on.
Its called Theft of Service. Stealing from Sprint is something legitimate
customers have to pay for. Why do you think they curbed the referral
program to begin with?

The problem is it's a SCAM of SprintPCS and their referral program,
rather than a scam of the consumer. The seller feedback for these
dealers is all positive, folks apparently like the fat credits they can
get on their account. So no, folks are not complaining to eBay other
than us who think its not proper to scam Sprint.

Re: More Ebay referral scammers
I was talking about the other "probable" scams they "might" be into.
Obviously, E-Bay and SprintPCS think the same way as, they have already
cancelled E-Bay accounts and revoked a reseller agreement for one "person".
I think it is a good marketing tools for SprintPCS.
I think though that anything good, can be subverted and ^%$& it up for the
rest of us. :-(.

For once, I actually agree with Phil on something. (Hell is freezing over!)
But then again, if you legitimately refer someone and your referral gets
stolen by one of the referral scammers on ebay, that's not fair to you since
you (as the legitmate person referring) should get the $20, not someone who
paid for that number on Ebay or otherwise.

Ya, you and superman --- give Darwin some elbow room, let him do his thing.

Ya, ya, ya --- and Saddam maybe had WMD --- what is any of this to you?

Which is worse? Me laughing at a moron who got scammed, or reading this
hysterical crap? I prefer the laugh, every time!! And please do me a
favor --- send me a google search on ANY fraud claim from ebay, other a
phone that can't be activated because the seller didn't pay the final bill
on it. I don't recall a single post that covers what you think you've seen
here before.
My suggestion, step back into your virtual house and chill out. And as Phil
points out (cough) the guy is not getting slammed by his customers --- only
those who THINK he's doing something wrong.

Good for him ---- bad for you?

Sending jobs offshore would happen no matter what, but you'd know that if
you read the news and not ebay.
> Its called Theft of Service. Stealing from Sprint is something legitimate
> customers have to pay for.
Okay, tell me how you know this is theft of service? Maybe the guy tells
folks all the stuff that Sprint should be telling folks right up front like
"bring a friend and get yourself $20". Why the referer program is the best
kept secret at Sprint is beyond me. Same with the dropped call credit. For
all you know the guy has taken all the tips from here (referer credit,
retention plans, etc, etc) and put all that info in one place. Hardly a
scam, my friend.
>Why do you think they curbed the referral
> program to begin with?
Because they couldn't administer it? Because Sprint's never been friendly to
the customer under contract? Because they're lazy? Because some SPCS
employee was feeding new numbers to a pal and they split the 'profits'? WTF
knows. I do know that the current system, where you input both numbers and
the system checks the parameters to see if it's a legit claim, would be hard
to boondoggle without knowing both numbers ---- and you'd be giving yourself
up to collect the credit.
Anyway, carry on with the hysteria, if you must. But given the guy's
feedback and that most folks live in fear I doubt he's doing anything
terribly illegal. Probably doing nothing more than what's done on this NG on
a daily basis (referrer program mentions and retention plan mentions).
Coming to think about it maybe we're the scammers, dumb ones too, since we
don't get paid for the information? We talk about ways to get the best deal
from Sprint you can get ---- and do it at least 10 times a week. Maybe
Sprint needs to have this NG shutdown --- since we're conspiring to save a
few bucks, within the system.
