There gotta be a better solution than the one where if your Treo 600 for
whatever reason goes into this infamous boot loop - and you only choice is
to press yes to erase all data and then it will start up... What would be a
solution/approach to this? If we bought a memory card - could we put on it
the apps like AIM, Eudora Mail and our data so it is separate and not in the
Treo's memory stuff? Not quite sure yet how to "move" or install the apps
themselves (AIM, Eudora) onto a memory card, would appreciate somet thoughts
on this. We do try various "reset" approaches, pin in the reset hole,
pressing a key while rebooting etc. no luck.
We keep encountering this boot-loop and it is a real pisser when it happens
out on the road and it absolutely insists on erasing everything - just to
restart - - it needs a better solution and we need to stop having our data
erased which renders using the T600 kind of useless with the contacts,
emails, appts, etc gone.

The thing is a Palm Phone is not quite a Palm Pilot, and so any
application which "should" work, might cause issues. If you've synched
your phone to your PC (or Mac) you should be able to retreive all your
data. Keep track of applications/hacks you INSTALL on your Treo. When
problems occur, it's likely that the last thing you INSTALLED caused the
problem.

The only 2 apps we have installed is the AIM and the Eudora mail. But yes we
are able to synch up once we get back in the office etc. But could we
avoid the "erase all" problem if we had apps and data on a memory card
instead of in the Treo? Or? Just trying to find a solution to allow the palm
to do the "erase all" but we still have our data and apps etc.and can get
things going without having to return to office etc.
Thanks Robert!

Take a look at Botzam Backup
(http://www.botzam.com/bzbackup_details.htm). You can do a full,
encrypted backup to your SDMem card. This should solve your
away-from-the-computer resynch problem.
How the heck are you getting into this reboot problem? I've never
encountered it. Have you presented the problem to Palm/Handspring or
Sprint PCS? Is there some particular application that you suspect?

No we have not yet told sprint/handspring/palm - we just got the T600 a week
ago, and our suspect is the AIM (the one we paid for - not that buried
"aim-clone" in sprints portal), and or the Eudora mail. We only installed
the eurdora mail and the synch - we did not install the eudora web
componet - not need it.
I am perfectly willing to take this back to Sprint and demand it be
replaced - this boot loop has happend repeatedly many times - often while we
are doing something, such as logged into AIM and something else happens on
the T600, such as an alarm, or we have to switch.
The very first time this started happening was when we attempted to do the
sprint T/600 1.1.00xx(whatever it is) the treo updater for Sprint. And it
appears to have been a problematic thing since then.
So this is making me wonder and ask:
How do we get the T600 firmware (whatever it is called) back to whatever it
was when we got the phone a week or so back, thus removing any firmware that
may have failed perhaps? Are there known problems with this treo/sprint
updater??
We not yet have purchased a memory card - but will if it is possible to
install AIM/Eurdora etc ON the memory card vs inside the Treo - AND store
our data on the card. Is this doable? I just ask because we see no install
options (well would not expect to see since no card installed), but would
like some ideas of what we can do before spending more money.
Thanks, getting pretty frustrated here with it doing its looopy loop on us
at any moment it so desires.

Try running Eudora without AIM or AIM without Eudora and see what
hapopens.

I had no luck with Eudora mail on the T600. I loved it on my QCP6035,
but it was buggy as heck on the T600 and I had to drop it.
Go get the email software on Handspring's support page for the T600.
(http://www.palmone.com/us/support/do...pop3_mail.html) It's
solid. Not anywhere near as polished as Eudora (no filters, you have to
retrieve each account separately,...), but it works.

First thing you should do is delete any suspect software from the
device. Use Menu/Delete from the applications (home) screen.
Definitely delete Eudora and possibly delete your AIM client.
See if that clears things up.
I had absolutely no trouble with my 1.1 updater, by the way. It worked
as advertised for me.

Can't tell you why you are getting this, but you can hit the reset
button on the back while pressing the 'up' button on the pad you will
reboot your Treo without loading any apps that are set to run on
startup. This should stop the rebooting....

Re: Treo 600 boot loop and erase all
I'm having major problems with my Treo 600.
I do have Eudora mail and web, but per your advice below going to
delete them and see if that help.
Calls come in and I tap answer, and it ignores me.
Calls come in and if I can answer them, I get disconnected within
seconds.
good luck.
