I just purchased a Samsung VI660 cell phone. My carrier is Sprint PCS.
    However,
I did not purchase the Sprint Vision plan. My current contract is no
longer available, and if I got the Vision plan it would cost me a lot
more, and I do not use any online services.

My question is this. Is it possible for me to upload ringtones,
midlets and images to this phone without the vision plan? I saw a
program called snapsync that allows you to sync the address book with
Outlook, but it doesn't say anything about the other items. And I
don't use Outlook, so that isn't very useful to me. But since the
program uses a USB cable to connect with the phone, there sounds like
there must be a way. Previous postings on this even said that the
cable is available from Radio Shack. So, am I screwed, or is it
    trivial or something in between?

Thanks for any help and/or pointers.

Another $30 program from the authors of SnapSync, entitled "SnapMedia"
allows for handling ringtones and pictures.

Just a point of clarification here. What you have is called a calling plan.
The contract, i.e.: SPCS's AA (annual agreement) is the agreement to
maintain coverage for a period of time ... one year or two years. SPCS
offers a no term AA as well, where one is not locked into a term for $10/mo.
The calling plan and AA are mutually exclusive.

As Phillipe aka: Robert M. (along with 50 other IDs) mentioned, SnapMedia is
the product to use. Here's the link to the product -

One more thing. You can use Vision, without subscribing to it. It will cost
    you $0.01/kb in downloads.

According to the Futuredial website, SnapMedia does not support any Samsung
phone. I can live with a per KB charge. Is there any info available about how
to upload ringtones, images and midlets to the phone using the per KB version
    of Sprint PCS Vision?

There's no "per-KB version" of it. It works exactly the same whether=20
you have a pack or pay per KB.

You can upload stuff to your phone without buying the FutureDial software. Check out BitPim available here bitpim .

Here are instructions how to use BitPim with the Samsung SPH-A660: http://home.comcast.net/~jna03/a660/
