We have seen contradictory postings from SprintPCS employees about
SprintPCS' program to allow existing customers to have access to
    promotions that new customers get.

It was agreed that one had to be an existing customer and used their
current phone for 18 months to qualify to receive the same amount new
customers get as an instant rebate as a mail in rebate on a new phone.

The program further stipulates that a Vision phone must be signed up for
Vision. Tech Geek said one could remove Vision after 2 months with no
penalty. Osiris said one had to have the Vision on their account for the
    full 18 months.

as its explained at http://www.sprintpcsinfo.com, they're both right.

How can that be? In one circumstance only.

One must have a plan of $34.99 or over not counting add-ons, except for
Vision. If it is Vision that causes your plan to be over $34.99, then
yes it must remain for the 18 months.

    Confused?

    Here is what http://www.sprintpcsinfo.com said:

Sprint appears to have modified their Handset Upgrade Program in four
    key ways:
    1) Program has been renamed New For You Upgrade Program
    2) You used to be able to receive half the elegible discount after 12
months of having the phone active on your account, this has been
removed, and really was never publicized.
    3) While the older program defined the requirement for continuous
activation of a phone for the whole 18 months, with ESN swaps resetting
the timeframe, the new program appears to not have such a requirement.
The program makes a clear distinction between customers that establish
service after April 25th, and customers that activated service prior to
that date. It says only that customers that establish service prior to
April 25th must have the same phone on the account for the entire 18
    months.
We are inclined to believe that after April 25th, ESN swaps will not
reset the 18 month timeframe after this date for all customers.
    4) You must remain on a $34.99 or higher service plan for the entire 18
months. Vision service is the only addon that counts towards this total
other than your monthly charge, and you must have Vision on your account
the entire time if your account is below the $34.99 rate.

It should be pointed out that sprintpcsinfo.com is not an official site of
SPCS. Even though they offer some great information and services, like info
on future phones, the forums and firmware tracker, they are not an official
    SPCS site.

Unfortunately, Sprint's official proclamations are often ambiguous and unclear,
so one needs to consult third party sites to get the true meaning.

You are both correct, and in this case it was only sprintpcsinfo.com
explanation that made sense out of the 18 month plan. It should also be
pointed out that sprintpcsinfo.com is not afraid to pull punches, and
when SprintPCS does illogical things, they will call them to task.

Currently they are lobbying SprintPCS to carry the Treo 610 when it
    comes out.
