I strongly suspect that the Federal rules surrounding
porting phone numbers do _not_ allow extra charges
but would like to have opinions of the knowledgeable
people in this group:
-Sprint insisted had to sign up for at least a one year
plan where I had been month to month before changing my
phone number with them.
-Sprint verbally said my monthly charge would not change
but my first bill afte the change showed a $5 month
increase with no explanation.
-Made the change mid month. Next invoice shows double the
cost - i.e. they billed me a full month for May 1-5 and
a second full month for the May 6-31 period.
Is there a clear listing somewhere of the rules which phone
companies must comply with as part of the number porting process?

Changing a phone number and remaining with the same provider is NOT
porting.

This has nothing to do with porting. Were you able to get this corrected?

Sounds like another screwup but again, has nothing to do with porting.

Doesn't apply. You didn't port your number. Porting your number means you
move from one carrier to another. You didn't. (Unless you had a Sprint line
already and moved a number from another carrier to that line, but absent any
statement from you that you did, I assumed you just changed from one Sprint
number to another.
