I understand that Costco has a very liberal return policy. Has anyone
returned a Sprint phone more than 30 days after purchase for refund /
upgrade to another Sprint phone? I have a Sanyo 8200 but saw the Treo
650... I'm not eligible (and of course we never receive it anyways!) for a
$150 rebate, so gettig the $220 I paid for the Sanyo applied to the Treo
would make a big difference.

Good luck with that, but I don't think it's going to work. I believe
those are no more than micro-SPCS-stores located in Costcos.
My wife and I were in a local Costco shopping for stuff recently, and
I stopped at the SPCS booth just to look. The SPCS guy approached
and asked if he could help. My wife suggested "Hey, maybe *he* can
give us a better deal?" "Nope," I replied, "he can't beat the
retention department." The Costco SPCS guy agreed. I told him I had
just stopped to see what the VI-2300 looked like up close and
personal, thanked him for his time and wandered away.

Yes I returned a Samsung Vi660 to Costco about 2 months after I bought
it and exchanged it for another phone. They didn't give me any hassle
at all. But that before Costco started selling other brands and
requiring in store activation.

The one at the Victorville, CA Costco is a dealer, with some weird rules of
their own... they won't even sell phones without a plan. (I've asked.) Other
Costco stores may be different, especially considering that this particular
dealer seems to be local to Southern CA and wouldn't be in Costco stores in
other parts of the coutnry.

My bet: it's a different Sprint authorized retailer. As far as I know,
Costco isn't selling the phones themselves. That is certainly the case in
Victorville.

I think that particular reseller took over all the Costcos in Calif
very recently, in the last month. They are a national reseller, they
might be taking them all.
Too bad, Costco selling phones was a pretty good deal before. Well,
"good deal" is pretty relative when you are talking about cellular
prices and "plans" in the US. I doubt it is this weird in the rest
of the world.

My local Costco in N VA just switched it up as well. For years, it was
a SprintPCS display with a Sprint person standing near by. Now there is
an actual third party company there selling Sprint, Verizon and
T-Mobile. Looks just like a kiosk setup like you'd find in the center
of the mall.
