I realize that it is early days for Sprint but I was wondering if
there was any anecdotal information concerning Sprint EVDO coverage in
the LA area, specifically around San Pedro or Palos Verdes?

The map for LA isn't clear enough to show whether "Power Vision" is
available. Suggest you either call SPCS or go into one of their stores in
those two areas to inquire whether it is available.

HOPEFULLY the stores have much more readable maps than what's on the
website.

Network supplier LUCifer ENTerprises is currently distracted with other
matters:
"With coming cuts and hires, Lucent expects its staff to number around
29,500 in September 2006. Who would have thought that in 1996, when
Lucent employed more than 125,000 worldwide, the company would shed
some 76 percent of its staff in just 10 years?
....
Lucent Technologies Inc. retirees are killing their former employer
by living too long.
As unbelievable as it sounds, Lucent continues to be in a bit of an odd
spot because it has (1) shrunk dramatically in size, revenues, and
market cap during the past decade and (2) continues to provide benefits
to a growing number of retirees, who are living, on average, longer
than at any other time in U.S. history. (See Pension Concerns Hit
Lucent and Lucent Retirees File Lawsuit.)"
