While in Germany, no. In fact, the phone won't work at all, not even
for voice calls. Germany does not have a network that is compatible
with the Sprint network in the US.

The international phone isn't the only option. Your boss should contact
Sprint and let them know he's going to Germany and would like to
internationally roam. This way they can set up his account to allow
that, and furnish him with a SIM card that will work in a GSM handset
for Germany. Sprint I believe also rents out GSM phones for
international use. Or, you can get a cheap unlocked GSM world phone off
eBay and use that with the SIM card.

Yet another option is for your boss to get a prepaid phone and service
while in Germany, and use that while he's there. He'll have a German
telephone number of course, but, the calling rates will probably be
cheaper. International roaming is EXPENSIVE, and it would be far less
expensive for him to leave the PM-325 at home, and use a local prepaid
    service while he's abroad.

I have to agree - Sprint does not regularly rent international phones,
and just subscribing for the international roaming package involves
paying an activation fee. I always recommend getting a pre-paid local
GSM phone and phone number when traveling in Europe.
