Folks,
Does phone deteriorate over time?
Every 2 - 2.5 years I have to get new phone. When I get new phone I
get great reception (4 bars) in and around my house, after about 2 -
2.5 years my phone would loose connection and I consistently get 1 bar
or less. I have been in this house for 11 years and it is always same
problem. I have bought phones from different companies (samsung, sanyo
Palm, etc.). I bought Treo650 couple of years ago and I was getting 4
bars, now I hardly get one bar.
My friend came over last sunday and he recently bought palm centro, he
also has sprint, and he was getting 4 bars standing next to me outside
my garage while my phone was going in and out of network.

Yes, they updated my PRL before they sent technician to check for
the signal.
This is not the first time I have had this problem.

No. I have been researching other providers to see which one would
work best where I live, but switching would be costly because I have
four phones. I am going to talk to sprint customer service rep and see
if I can get free phones or deep discount because it is their fault
that the phone stopped working in my area. Few years ago when I had
same problem with my sanyo phones they had given me three free phones.

I know I had degradation of the radio section on a Treo 600. I still
carried the equipment replacement program insurance at the time, and
they replaced it when I was able to demonstrate the problem in a
Sprint store.
Otherwise, no, the radio circuitry should not degrade significantly
over time, unless you're trying to keep it warm in the microwave!
