If anyone sees an actual i500 working model in a store in Los Angeles,
please post where you saw it. I'd like to check it out in person.

    Thanks

Re: Samsung I500 in Los Angeles

I'm very disappointed in Los Angeles Sprint stores. I thought LA was known
for cell phones yet no one has it yet. One person even said he didn't know
Samsung had any new phones coming out! Another said they won't get them
    until the end of AUGUST!!

Chill, do you really want to pay $500+ to be a beta tester for this
phone? let it percolate in the market for a few months and get some
bugs worked out before you take the plunge. JMO.

    :::sigh:::

I have such pride in this network, and such shame for some those we use to
represent it to people out there.

There is a retail newsletter that goes out to them every week. I don't know
what it says, because I can't subscribe to it in Customer Care. But I know
that if they're telling *us* the I500 has been released, then that
newsletter told at least then, if not sooner, that it was released.

It should start showing up on shelves next week. So I'm told.

    I wouldn't be so anxious if my phone didn't have a cracked screen - I can't
    read anything on it.

Thanks for keeping us posted. Since some of your coworkers seem to be the
issue and this is common for new phones, it would be really nice if you
could check availability of a phone at a store using your web page. This
would avoid the long delay of waiting for them to answer the phone, say
please hold, say which phone? say please hold again and then say we don't
    know.

Considering that the data is all tracked instantaneously it would be an easy
    program to write.

Re: Samsung I500 in Los Angeles

The Sprint center in Santa Monica has one. I drove down there and they
showed me the box. I asked if I could just see the screen and they said no.
They would only sell the phone to someone who would buy it without seeing
it. That would be a great strategy for BMW. You could drive down to their
dealership and they'll show you a magazine advertisement with their car in
it so you could decide if you wanted to buy one!

    AUUUGHHH!!

Buy it, then take it back the next day. Use that return policy!

Re: Samsung I500 in Los Angeles

I finally saw the phone in person at the Torrance store. The people there
were actually friendly!!! I was very impressed with the phone and the
people at the Torrance store. They weren't any more knowledgeable about the
products than other places I've been but they were so friendly and
accomodating! This is a huge plus for Sprint in my opinion. I've been to a
few locations but this is the first time every person I spoke to was
friendly. This is the first time I was happy after going to a Sprint store.
If you are in the Los Angeles area, I would highly recommend you visit this
store for your Sprint phones. I would call first if you want the i500, I
doubt it will last very long.

I thought the phone was fantastic but missing a few key features for me to
justify the $600 for the phone. I have no doubt Samsung will have most of
those features with their next palm phone.

Things I would like on the next model:
    1. OLED exterior display - I like to use my phone as a clock and I like to
see the incoming number without opening the phone.

    2. wav/qcp ringer playback - I like to have my phone announce certain people
are calling so I don't have to even look at the phone.

    3. sell the phone with a program like the pocket PC phones that lets you
dial a phone number by saying the numbers of the person you want to dial in
case they aren't in your phonebook already.

    4. replace the numeric keys with lighted rubber keys with clear separation -
makes it easier for me to dial one handed. (Some people prefer the plastic
keys so this is a matter of option but I think better separation would make
dialing easier for all of us)

    5. include a better case - holster style.

    6. sell the dang thing with a car adapter - do they really think anyone
won't want it? I think it would only be fair to include it considering the
price of this phone (although I repeat it is a GREAT phone)

    7. I'd rather they made two different models of there next phone - one with
a camera and one without. I know many people who like the camera and a lot
more who don't. I don't see why a camera is included with so many phones but
a car adapter isn't. If it is getting to the point where they are throwing
in the kitchen sink just because they can, I'd rather have a GPS on my phone
than a camera. I'm not upset that they offer phones with cameras, I think is
a great option for people who want it but it seems no different than if
McDonald's only offered cheeseburgers and hamburgers weren't an option or
    were the same price.

I repeat this is a GREAT phone! VERY nice! But the first 3 features I listed
are too important for me to consider upgrading to this phone at $600 for
myself unless the company I worked for was paying for it. If having the
first three items would have delayed them delivering the phone, I applaud
Samsung for removing them to get the phone out the door. I think it was the
right decision. I would love to see a phone very similar to the i500 with
those additional features though. (Hopefully within 6 months)
