Is there a number that you can dial to get directly to your voicemail from a
regular land line? I don't want my cell phone to ring.

    Thanks

Re: A number to go to your voicemail?

I want to know if I am getting a call from home, because I might be getting
a call from home. But when no one is home, I want the answering machine to
notify me when I get messages.

I got the info on another forum - Take your sprint number and replace the
last four digits with 6245 (mail)

So If my cell number is 555-1212, I would dial 555-6245 to get my voicemail?

    That doesn't make sense.

That's correct. Do it all the time. Dial the area code first, of
    course.

So it would be 1-917-555-MAIL (6245)

You hear a welcome, then you're asked to input your number
    and press pound: 917 555 1212#

Then you're asked to enter your four-digit password and press
    pound.

    That's it.

What I did is just dial the my phone number. When the voice mail pick it up,
    just press *(or # ?).

Give your vips your wireless phone number, or put your wireless
number in your answering machine's outgoing message?

Why don't you shop for a fancy answering machine?

Don't dial ALL of your phone number, just the area code (if necessary)
and the three digit exchange number, followed by 6245 ("MAIL").

Re: A number to go to your voicemail?

As I understand it, dialing my own number, or using my 4900's
speed-dial "1", connects me to voicemail, but it costs airtime
minutes, rather than the free PCS-to-PCS minutes on my plan.

Is this correct, and if so, does this 6245 tip beat the system (i.e.
    is it considered PCS-to-PCS?

    Thanks.

Re: A number to go to your voicemail?

dialing your own voicemail from your sprintpcs phone is 1+1, your cell
    number.

dialing from a landline is 6245 but is a pain in the ass because you have to
dial the number, then punch in your cell number, then your security code and
then dial your number again if you want to leave a message. - This far
exceeds the 20 number dialback capabilities of my answering machine.

Geez Louise ... all this information is included in the phone manual. To
answer the prior poster ... No, when calling into your voice mail, it is not
PCS to PCS. You are charged minutes.

If one has a concern of using a minute or two to check voice mail, the
easiest way to do it, is to turn off your cell phone, and then call it from
a land line. As soon as you hear the recording, hit the * button, and plug
    in your 4 digit PIN.

When you've listened and either deleted or saved any or all of the messages,
    hit the * key again.

Then turn your phone back on.

When your SPCS number is called directly the phone rings whenever it is
on the network. After ~4 rings the caller is bumped to voicemail. If the
phone is off the network, the caller is bumped "immediately" to
    voicemail.

You can access the voicemail system from your phone by pressing the VMS
key on your phone (usually "1"), or dialing your own number and letting
it ring through to VMS, or by substituting the suffix 6245 (MAIL), eg:
    xxx-yyy-6245(MAIL)

Not all area code and prefix combination offer the 6245 suffix into the
VMS system, so you might need to experiment a little.

Rumor has it that dialing your number as 11+xxx+xxx+xxxx it goes right
to the persons voicemail so they can't answer the phone, cause they
never have the opportunity. I haven't tried that with my numbers
    though.

I don't believe there is a charge, if calling form a land line which
then goes to voice-mail--I also believe that you can call c/s and they
can adjust the number of rings upon which the trasnfer to voicemail to
made. at least you can(could) with verizon) on the old bell south dcs
phones, you could do this from the handset, if y knew the code, which
was god awful long--but it did work, and could be changed at your whim.
advise us what you learn or know.
