Rather than curse the darkness, I decided to light a candle, and try to
get the answer to post here.
I called Sprint.
* Claire doesn't know about "PRL Update"
* 7 minutes on hold
* I ask "how would I get the PRL update?"
* CSR says "PRL?" and puts me hold while she asks what PRL is.
* She comes back and says "Hold while we download it to your phone."
* 3 minutes later she says, "Wait I need to check. You'll be getting
10018"
* I say "I already have 10019, I was calling for 10020"
* She says "Let me get you a tech"
* 1 Minute later a tech says "10020 has not been released yet, probably
late in September"
* I say "How do I get it, will I be notified?"
* He says "Don't worry about it, getting a PRL update will make no
difference at all to your phone if you didnt get 10020 for 18 months"
* I say "I don't appreciate being lied to, good day", and hang up.
A lot of good things about Sprint. Customer Support is not one of them.

Wow, Phillipe. I am sorry and I don't mean for this to sound
condesending, but you must just have the worst luck in the world
concerning Sprint PCS. That is just crazy.
I called just now for the PRL update ... about a minute and a half on
hold, the rep flagged my account and I called *2 back and it was
automatically downloaded to my phone.
I would try calling back and asking for it again. Maybe some shifts
weren't notified of it yet since it is brand new -- but that wouldn't
explain why she offered you an outdated 10018. It is just crazy the
large range of quality difference between CSRs.
Good luck,
Eric

Re: PRL 10020 is not available ?
I have an extremely hard time believe this diatribe, consider that I said
"PRL Update" and went to a live CS immediately, had all my phones flagged,
and which are updated already.

Thats funny, they've always been polite and respecful to me, and when
they
don't know about a PRL update and I do, they check, and then go ahead
and
flag my phone anyway. They have never been rude or obnoxious to me in
anyway. It must be the caller.

One thing to remember is never confuse them by asking for a certain PRL
version. They often have outdated info on their systems. Just say you
want your phone flagged for the latest PRL. If they ask what version you
have just lie and say 10014 or something.
I called last night, waited about 5 minutes on hold, and then got a rep
who flagged my account with no questions asked.

If you know exactly what to say to them you won't have problems getting
what you want. It does take experience sometimes.

Re: PRL 10020 is not available ?
I called from my PCS phone and they flagged me for a PRL and when i
called back it uploaded 10020 to my phone.
Strangley though the guy asked me, "Did you press *2 and say PRL to
Claire?" I said "Yes".....

Bob, i had the same experience as you..... I was shocked at how quickly
they came on-line live, hold time of about 10 seconds.

Bingo. Over the years I've had a few CSR's who were unsure about
the PRL issue, and so I politely asked them to flag me, which they politely
did, and I got my update.
If one already knows the correct answer, and that the respondent is
uncertain of him/herself, and then one pushes the issue to the point
they're flustered and perhaps embarrassed, then who's the rude one?

One thing I noticed after I called for the update is that I had to
manually reboot the power on my A500 before it would show the 10020.
With previous phones I didn't have to do this.

Phillipe:
The August 31 deadline on that court injunction which requires Sprint to
let you vacate your contract expires (IIRC) August 31. Perhaps you may
want to take advantage of it.
