The thief used a dent puller on my minivan door to get my door open. Took my
4900 and my checkbook. Does anyone know where I can get one new in the box?
Worst case scenario (if I can't find one and have to substitute) what has
range as good, a color screen and functions as good am my 4900. Also would
be nice if my Jabra boom mic fit too.

Check you local Sprint Store(s) or RadioShack as they may have a couple
left. Also eBay would be good place to check. I would say the best
substitute would be the 8100 right now. Or if you like candybar style
phones the Hitachi P300 would be a good choice, but it dosn't have
    analog. Good luck!

Sorry about your bad luck. First things you need to do, and hopefully
you have done both, is call your bank (Monday morning at the earliest
since this is a weekend) and report what happened. You should also call
Sprint immediately to report the phone lost -- unless you have the
equiptment replacement program, they can't help you get a new phone, but
they will deactivate your 4900 so calls cannot be made, received or
    completed by the thief.

I have heard that the 8100 is a good choice as far as replacing your
4900. The 8100 is a camera phone, but it is also a Sanyo with the great
Sanyo signal strength we have come to expect. Try a phone out from
your local Sprint Store -- there is always that 14 day return policy if
the phone is not to your liking.

The 4900 can still be found in some Radio Shacks ... and also at the
forums at sprintusers.com (previously owned ones from users looking to
upgrade) and at ebay (many listing new ones).

    Good luck.

Guess you can always try the remote reset feature that the sanyo4900 has.
Where you send a SMS via [email protected] with the msg,
if I recall, "\RESET*PASSWORD(default is esn)*RESET" or something like
that. Can check the manual at www.sanyo.com if you are really interested.
It does how ever require service to the phone and that the phone be on.

Hope it was actually activated on the handset.
You have to turn this feature on.

Why do people steal phones? Sprint can blacklist the ESN and nobody can
activate it on a network that shares this list. It just makes no sense.

I'm thinking the people who steal phones don't know that. Makes perfect
    sense.
