Don't want analog. I want to force it onto 800mhz CDMA.

1) Set the phone to do Roaming only

2) Menu > 8 > 1 > 0 > 040793 > CDMA Only

if you enter cdma only through the method above, is the only way to
cancel that power cycling the phone?

Doing it again might cancel it. You can certainly find out by going to an
area where you roam digitally and trying it. BTW, it is not roam only, it
is CDMA only, and on my A500, it isn't even that. It simply forces the use
of an CDMA 800 signal when available rather than using AMPS. It still will
use AMPS in the absense of any other available signal. I suspect the same
goes for the VGA1000.

Is there a way to do this on the Sanyo 8100?

People have suggested to use something like *22800 / *22801 to force
the phone onto either 800MHz CDMA band, but i havent been able to get
this to work. It promptly tells me that "activation failed".

OK, I tried this. First of all, it seems you can set the phone from
the menu to analog only, but not roaming only. So I did that.Then when
I keyed in the codes, all I got is "Pictures Erased." That's it, and
then it went automatically back to SPCS.
