Good thing you said something. I've got mine set that way, too. I'll

Trent, I'd recommend that you call SPCS, and ask for international
roaming. If I remember, I had to tell SPCS that I was going to use my
phone overseas and to get authorization.

You are correct. I believe there's a 7-day waiting period on it, too.

Re: Jamaica
Well, Sprint's international roaming site doesn't have anything for
Jamaca. so you might not get it to work. It might be cheaper just to
use a lan line when you get there

Yes, Sprint reps should tell people phones are to "look and not
touch".

GSM is the standard for Europe, Africa, and Asia, but not as "standard"
in North and South America, including the Carrebean. Many of the
islands use TDMA, which the dual-band Sprint PCS phones can roam on the
800MHz TDMA.
I do not have a definite answer on Jamaica now, but I know there is
someplace, either through SprintPCS.com or though Sprint's intranet,
I've been trying to re-find it (I lost the link somehow).
As for my experiences, that is what I had when I was in Bermuda, 800MHz
TDMA roaming and roughly $2.50 a minute (give or take a few cents), and
this was 2 years ago.

Bermuda is not considered Central America or South America and maybe not
even Caribean.
And many of the Islands and countries DO USE GSM, and it is a total
DIS-SERVICE to SPRINTPCS customers to suggest they "Try their SprintPCS
phone and see", when you know full well only two things will happen:
1. It won't work at all. i.e. Cayman Islands, Cozumel, Aruba
2. It will roam at multi-dollar per minute rates.

Funny, but my wife and I used our SPCS phones in the Caymans, on 800
analog, but we certainly used it ... and it was $1 / min. to make
local calls, not multi-dollars per minute.
