Just because the stores have them does not mean that they can or are
    allowed to sell them yet.

Nokiausa website still says that 3588i is still 'coming soon'. So,
possibly is has not been officially released yet.

It's a nice looking phone, I must admit. But it doesn't appear to be
    vision capable... so why bother?

Some people just want a phone. (Hard to believe, isn't it?)
    ;-)

I actualy see a lot of people who don't want web, a camera, PDA, Pocket
    PC, infrared, etc..

They just want to make calls.

The Nokia does come pre-loaded with some games and a nice color screen.
It seems identical to the 3585i except for the SMS, color screen, and a
few other minor enhancements (games etc..).

Not bad, and I wouldn't be suprised if it was a "free" phone by the
    holidays (my speculation).

You're only half right. The Sanyo 4900 is *barely* Vision capable. So
    again, why bother?

Not at all. But not for $149.99, regardless of whethere you're
activating new service or not (note, no rebates on the website).

    (speculation)
I'm sure it won't be long before we see rebates on it. All electronics
companies try to get top dollar when a new product comes out.

When the 8100 first came out, it was a couple of weeks before any
rebates were available for it (directly though SprintPCS).

I don't care about vision, I just want it for voice. It replaced a 5
year old Samsung SCH-1500 that still worked. I like Nokia's very much.
    Better reception, better sound quality.

No rebate in the store either and he showed me the MSL on the screen.
Just don't know how to get into this Nokia.
