AFter reading posts (sometimes conflicting) (but informative, as I would
not have been aware if not for them), I called c/s last night, after
Claire, I was on hold for at least 30-40 seconds, very polite gentleman
agreed that it could be added to my old non published plan (has 8 pm
N&W), for $5 month, did it effective midnight.
Sorry there is no controversies to report, so I guess I am an apologist.

Any chance I can add it to one or all of my 2000 shared for $5 each phone??

Re: F&CA America Add On
I added it today to my 2000 minute plan. Supposedly since the main phone
has F&CA, the add-a-phones will have it too. Only cost $5 total! We have
tried a couple roaming calls on two of the phones (the main phone and an
add-a-phone) and will see if it billed as they say. The rep went ahead and
added it for this billing cycle since it was only $5 -- wouldn't have to
wait for the next billing cycle to try it.
Note, I tried adding it last night and the rep had no idea what I was
talking about. She said that the F&CA was only for people that used half of
their minutes roaming. She said since I was not going to use 1000 minutes
roaming each month, it would not be a good idea for me. She offered the
bucket of 50 roaming minutes for $10! In addition, she said F&CA was a
separate plan and could not be added on to my existing plan. Anyway, I
called this morning and the rep did some looking for about 20 seconds and
said yep, it was available as an add on...

Re: F&CA America Add On
i had one like your first rep too...i was persistant but polite and remained
calm and explained the addon feature...she asked me if i wanted to switch to
a f&c america plan, i said nope, it's a new add on...at this point after i
continued to insist that it was available she actually asked me to hold on
while she checked with a supervisor, and came back after a few minutes
apologized to me added the option and said it would take effective
immediatly.
amazing...i think a big part of the problem (but not always) is the customer
not knowing specifically how to explain something or what exactly they want
or need and communicate it across effectively. of course this doesnt apply
to people who are dumb as bricks (ie: at least 80% of call center
employees).... but still im amazed none the less.... i almost worked for
sprint, but did not accept the position...im sure they wouldnt have wanted
me anyways i might have actually made a difference...but i still understand
sometimes where they are coming from having worked in a call center and
doing phone support/service/sales for the past 5 years.

Re: F&CA America Add On
It seems we are all having similar experiences. I too spoke to a couple of
reps that were "unable" to att he FC%A to me plan. One of them clearly
understood what I wanted to do but indicated that it was not available in my
market (Northern VA/Wash DC/Baltimore). Yesterday morning I tried agian and
the rep quickly acknowledged what I wanted to do and made it so immediately.
When I got to work I checked "your plan" on the web site and the feature was
added for $5. In any case the reps were polite, and I never had to wait
more than a minute to speak with any of them.

Re: F&CA America Add On
I just called and the rep knew exactly what I was talking about. She said
that the one $5 charge would take care of all 4 lines on my 2000 shared.
Can someone from Sprint please confirm or deny this?? If not then I have to
add it to one other phone.
Thanks!!

Re: F&CA America Add On
I take that back, I called to confirm the change and the guy that I spoke
with said that nothing was changed and that they cannot add this option to
my 'old' $85 month 2000 shared plan. That I would have to change to the
$100 2000 shared plan. Again, can anyone confirm or deny this??

Does this 5 dollar addon include just 50% mins on roaming or does it
include the long distance charges as well?

I'm going to assume you are refering to p lane and not me. I called up
using *2 to check out the plan availability in my area. Wait times were
not short, which made me think twice about playing the "call back" game
to find a willing rep. The first rep I got not only knew what I was
talking about but realized it was per an area option and was able to
confirm I can have it added to my account instantly. She also answered my
long distance question claiming that long distance was included on the
roaming mins. I still doubt this considering what I have read about
before. I also asked about if the plan had an expiration date on it and
she explained it did not have one at the moment. I have to say if she is
right about the long distance part it is a feature I would love to use on
sprint esp since it is an addon and not a new plan. Only issue I really
have had with sprint was their lack of "known" addons that don't require
redoing your contract. Tho your millage will vary and if I call back to
confirm I want the option I'll probly end up eating the words I put in

Actually Central, I was referring to you. After giving *****ing Betty
the slip you got through and got what you wanted (an answer) that you
felt was acceptable and added service in a timely manner. That is
usually what I call a good customer care experience.

What have your read? There are two different roaming options. The
original one offered by SPCS and it's affiliates was buying a bucket
of 50 roaming minutes for $10/mo. LD was not included and outgoing LD
calls cost $0.25 / min. extra
The most recent option, that is only offered to those in SPCS
corporate areas (no affiliate coverage area), came out earlier this
year as a $10 mo. option and includes LD. SPCS then offered it in a
variety of plans. Now, SPCS is offering this as a $5 monthly option.
> I also asked about if the plan had an expiration date on it and

As far as I can remember (going all the way back to 98), no plans
purchased through SPCS have an expiration date. There have been
expiration dates on the length of the sales period for the plans,
i.e.: holiday promotion plans, but those folks that signed onto those
plans are still on them, unless they upgraded their plans since then.
Folks who signed up with SPCS back in 96 with a Pioneer plan still
have it. FTR, the Pioneer plan hasn't been available since 97 or so,
but it was a sweet plan. No Monthly fee, and calls were charged at
$0.35 min. incoming and outgoing.

Not to worry ... . Just be advised that this new roaming option,
that includes LD, is applicable for up to 50% of your minutes used
(not whatever your monthly plan minutes are).
