    Hello everyone,

I was wondering if anyone here uses the Tracfone service in Atlanta.

My concern is getting a prepaid service that does not charge whenever a
caller reaches voicemail or for retrieving messages from a landline. I
have heard that Tracfone DOES charge for this but the Reps. say they do
not. I would GREATLY appreciate input from an actual customer who uses
    the service in the area.

I currently have Free2Go but they are switching to Cingular which
    charges for VM deposits/retrievals.

    Hope this question made sense.

    Kelly

    P.S.
If not Tracfone, could someone suggest another good prepaid service in
    Atlanta. Thanks again

Lets not complicate the issue here.

With, TracFone your minutes are stored and accounted for in the in the phone
itself. The networks can not deduct your minutes if your phone is turn on
and in use, let alone if your phone is turned off.

The phone's own internal clock knows how long you have talked and the
phone's internal processor calculates and deducts the appropriate number of
minutes after each call. In a call you see the length of the call in
progress on the display. After the call you see the remaining airtime
minutes on the display. You see either one or the other but not both at
    the same time with TracFone.

Again: During a call you see the length of time you have talked. After the
call, you see the number of minutes you have remaining in the TracFone's
    internet airtime tank.

Regardless, of the carrier your TracFone uses, your minutes are not and can
not be deducted when you access your voice mail using a landline phone, or
if someone else leaves you a voice mail message.

Your minutes *ARE* only deducted if you access your voice mail using your
    TracFone.

    Hope this helps!

Activating a new or refurbed TracFone soon?
Be sure to get a referral (by email) from another
TracFone user and you'll both receive 100 FREE
minutes airtime. TracFone uses Alltel, Verizon,
Cingular, AT&T, and Suncom wireless networks, just
to name a few! I've been a TracFone user for 4 years.

Yes tracfone is different you enter codes into your phone that you get via a
phone call or the web note these codes are not the prepaid pin code. Special
firmware decodes the codes to extend your date and air time.
All calls even 611 deduct from air time and if the roaming indicator is on
then time is deducted faster than clock time.
To use a tracfone on any other service requires new firmware.

When you purchase recharge the recharge is sent

Tracfone depends on the phone and their billing system both, when they get
the reports from cingular, verizon ect they check the phone esn to see if
enought time purchased to support the time used at this point anyone who
has stopped the clock in the phone and used extra time is deactivated.
