Re: Transferring a Land-line number of a cell phone
How is it done? Do I just call the cell phone company and have them transfer
it, or do I have to contact Pac Bell first?

You'd probably have to contact the cell phone company. Keep in mind that
unlike wireless-wireless transfers, which happen quickly these days -- my
VZW to Sprint transfer would have gone through in 24 hours if Sprint hadn't
had some incorrect billing info on my account, and as it was, the incorrect
info only delayed the transfer for another day -- the landline providers
will do everything they can to delay things. Some people have had to wait
for a month or more to complete a transfer from a landline.

He's in Laguna Niguel (Orange County), California. He's a regular in the
SPCS newsgroup and many of us were probably already aware of that, but
perhaps not in alt.cellular.

Re: Transferring a Land-line number of a cell phone
Yes: It is done automatically for you by the receiving carrier. If you have
a land-line, and are taking it to sprint, you would work with sprint. They
will take care of all of it. They will ask you for some paperwork, and the
name / address of the land line must match the name / address of your sprint
account, or even your NEW sprint account.
1) yes, you can have your landline take over your existing sprint line
2) yes, you can have your landline take become a new sprint line as well.
For new lines, you can do it in the store, on-line, or better yet, on my
on-line site: www.better-price-wireless.com. They call it local number
portability. And both numbers need to be "local". You can't take a landline
from New York, and move it to another carrier in Illinois. Extreme, but
make note that you can only port numbers that are part of the same local
area exchange. dr
