How to determine cell phone release order

Is there a site tracking the introduction dates of new cell phones from
various companies? How can I tell if a Nokia 6010 in newer than a Nokia
3220 or a Nokia 6610?

Is there a site that explains what a sequence number means as far as
features, functions, etc? Does the Nokia 6000 series differ from the
Nokia 3000 series etc?

Yes, I am confused.

No, although www.phonescoop.com has estimated launch dates. PhoneScoop is a
great site for cellular news and product reviews (by PhoneScoop staff and
actual users of the phones).

Depends on the model, and it's not static, either. It used to be, with Nokia,
that model number XXYY would tell you something. XX is the product line
(35xx, 21xx, etc) and the last two digits indicated the technology used by
the phone:

**80: 800 MHz CDMA/800 MHz AMPS
**85: 800/1900 CDMA, 800 AMPS
**70: 1900 MHz CDMA
**20: 800 MHz TDMA (I think)

and so on. I'm pretty sure this is no longer the case with Nokia, though I'm
not 100% sure.

Motorola used to have a similar product numbering scheme.

Currently, I don't think there is any well-known naming pattern used by any
phone manufacturer.
