I just got a Nokia 2600 phone from Tracphone. Every hour or so, the
LCD which is in powersave mode, turns on. It scared the crap out of me
the first time it happened around 3 am. When this happens, I also hear
some beeping coming from the phone. It sounds to me like it is
accessing the SIM card? I only guess this b/c I heard the same sounds
when I was first enabling the phone. Finally, if the phone is near my
computer when this happens, the beeping gets transmitted through my
computer speakers? Is this normal, or do I have a defective phone?
Should my phone be able send a burst of interference strong enough to
get picked up by computer speakers several feet away? Anyone else with
the Nokia 2600 or Tracphone experience this? Thanks.

    John

    dunno. may be normal

I have an LG phone from Cingular, and I can hear intereference from my
computer speakers 2-3 seconds before the phone rings, if I am sitting at the
    computer desk

If I had a think like that, I would no longer have it.
It's like several years ago I bought one of these small digital clocks
to take along when I go camping. I set the time and put it next to my
cot. I was just falling asleep whenit let out a loud annoying beep. I
grabbed a flashlight, and found the alarm was not turned on. I
figured I must have moved the alarm lever when I grabbed it. I double
checked and the alarm was definately in the off position. I must have
just gotten to sleep again when a damn beep went off again. Once
again, the alarm was turned off. I noted the time was exactly on the
hour. Sure enough, and hour later it beeps again. That time I tossed
some clothing over it. An hour later it beeps again, and even with
the clothing on top, it was still loud and annoying. I opened the
tent door and flung the goddamn thing out the door. I never heard it
again. The next morning I found the remains of a tiny battery in my
campfire coals. Guess where that clock ended...... exactly where it
belonged. When I got home, I found the instruction sheet from that
clock on my desk. Just for the heck of it, I read the damn thing.
Sure enough, it's supposed to beep on the hour so the user knows it's
working. That campfire was a perfect ending for it.
