Is it true that the battery installed inside the iPhone can only be changed at the factory? I heard that it cannot be removed by the user. If true, than the user must send the phone back to Apple. I also heard that surfing the net is painfully slow. I am curious if the LCD can be easily seen in bright sunlight. Hopefully one day, phones with the brighter OLED screens will be sold.

    Battery part is true.

You'll have to ask a user about the LCD in sunlight part. It's probably like most LCD's in the sunlight; very hard to read.

Yes, the iPhone is not on the fastest network - 3G.

(TMK - it is still not considered 'painfully slow'.)

    Re: Rumors about iPhone

Hard-wired battery. Big problem since most of us start seeing a decay in talk time after ongoing use. Most cell phone batteries simply die after a year or two. This happens and your expensive iPhone is junk.

I have another prediction that seems relevant to point out in this thread. This phone is NOT going to be easy to use in large parts of the country during winter months. You simply cannot dial on that screen with your fingers in gloves during winter months.

I wouldn't be banking Apple stock based on this device. I doubt its long term appeal.

    Re: Rumors about iPhone

hi there, on talktime, how long is the battery expected to last? I'm a music junkie and listen to music all the time. I'm from S'pore and not gotten an iphone, but reading your posts made me re-think if i should get it when it sells here in 2008. and ditto on the battery part. It's irksome to not have your phone with you when it's at the factory for a battery change.. unless the seller supplies a replacement phone for that period.

Might want to re-review forum rules.

Advertising your own website is not kosher.
