I have an iPhone 3GS but my old Tacoma doesn't have an audio input port.

So my only options for using my iPhone to play music in the truck are:

    1) Upgrade CD player with one with audio input port

    2) Find an FM transmitter device for my phone.

I've only found a few transmitters but one had horrible reviews and the other was spotty at best.

Has anybody found a good FM transmitter?

I live in Monument, Colorado. (Just north of Colorado Springs and across from the Air Force Academy.)

I ask because some big towns will have very few frequencies that will work for you.

I've had the Belkin wireless one that plugs directly into the dock (I had the one that was made for the iPod) and uses the battery from the iPod to power itself. Looks great, but sucks in a big city like San Francisco. Okay for a less crowded area like Sacramento or Lake Tahoe, but even then, it had lots of problems with static and I had a hard time finding an open frequency. So I've given up on Belkin. They make shady expensive stuff...you wouldn't think so, but they do.

What I ended up with was the iriver AFT 100 Mobile FM Transmitter. It works great in a busy city like San Francisco and equally well in more rural areas. If you find a frequency that works in a crowded area, it will likely work in any area. I have a frequency that works for the entire drive from San Francisco to Lake Tahoe....some static here and there, but for the most part, I don't have to mess around with it.

The wire is ugly, but manageable.

Thanks, IGIZ! I've heard bad stuff about the Belkin but never heard of the iRver so I researched it on NewEgg (my favorite geek site) and it has great reviews.

Unfortunately, NewEgg is out of stock so I check Amazon and found a new one for $15...sweet...

    Thanks!
