It's a jailbroken 3GS. It was working fine until a couple of days ago when it suddenly wouldn't turn on after all night attatched to the wall. I quickly charged it for ten minutes or so, and it said 100%, so I thought nothing of it. I went about my day to find that it was at 20% on the way home (whereas it's usually at around 60%). I then noticed that for some reason it thought it was full of a mysterious "other" through iTunes, and I can't sync it, I can't take photos or record things.

Try to back it up and then recover it through iTunes

That will remove your jailbreak though...

Really those options will be the only way you will have to restore the phone.

Re: What's wrong with my iPhone
I guess a full restore is the obvious final route. But has anybody actually seen this behavior? I had my phone shutdown on me for no reason one day. Charged it for a full hour. Nothing. Still can't turn it on. Then, as I was sitting in the can (quoting an infamous poem) "here I sit, broken hearted, trying to sh*t, but only farted", I started try pressing random combinations of keys together. And miraculously, the damn phone turned back on. And I had something else to do besides the obvious.
