Port number from existing plan to pre-paid?

Hi,

Is it possible to port a cell phone number from AT&T that is paid monthly to a pre-paid account? I want to go pre-paid, but I want to keep my same number.

Is it possible?

I don't see why not, but I don't believe it's called a port, because you're not taking it from carrier to carrier. You definitely want to call customer service and ask them what is involved in the process. Just make sure that your contract is up or will be when you're ready to go from postpaid to prepaid.
