does anyone know a website where I can find free ringtones etc. for the 8900. Also, with a data cable I do not need to connect to the net in order to recieve data from my personal comp right?

One that I have found and like is www.eringers.com. Select POLY ringers select the ringer, select ".midi" file, right click selected ringtone, download to your computer by "save as". Then either use your data cable or open an additional window for www.vzwpix.com. go to create, upload ringer from your pc, add and send

Nice find fonephrek, haven't seen that site yet. A popular one is http://www.tagtag.com
They have a ton, but you just have to look. Use the same directions to get it on your phone that fonephrek said.

Guys once you get the ring tones on your cell then what do you do? I can't use verizon's thing because I use Telus in Canada so I've been downloading MIDI by pointing my wap browser to a URL of a midi file and saving it to my sound clips. But when I view it later I can't assign it to a ringer.

I'm with you...
I'm having the same problem leemoreau. I wasn't too interested in ringtones really, but I liked how eRingers did it, so I downloaded a few. Of course, I can't set them to the actual ringer, just as you can't. I'm in Toronto as well, use Telus. Not sure what the deal is...

But, i think the problem is not being able to turn the sounds into ringtones. THey are just on the phone as sound clips...does the cable change that?

Eringers puts all of your selections on a page which you are supposed to go in the WAP browser on your phone. It works and everything, and they are downloaded to the phone, but I don't think I'm alone when I say I can't set them to ringtones. They are just sound clips on the phone. I guess I'm going to get a datacable and see if that makes a difference.
Would anyone out there know where the "sound clips" are on the phone? Or will this be obvious once I have the datacable?
