Just got another unsolicited SMS. This one is from a number 19996111 and
says:
"FreeMSG. You have a secret admirer! Reply CHAT to this msg to be
connected. For help call 1300885902. Average msg cost $2.70."
Looks like I'll have to stop giving out my mobile number as a contact
point whenever I do business or whatever.
Last Xmas I got an SMS with some lame Xmas joke. That was billed to me
at around $5. I complained to Telstra who reversed the charge.
I'll check my "calls yet to be billed" online billing service to see if
this one has cost me too.

Re: Unsolicited SMSes
I also received this message last week. What a joke, but I guess some
desperate losers will reply and make it worth while for them.

And they are refunding them all automatically, so you might get a double
credit

Re: Unsolicited SMSes
If it's SPAM then that is NOT the forum (TISSC) to file a complaint.
Sorry. Life sux.

A more useful site to ponder mobile SMS spam.

Deceptive content with a Premium SMS service.
Last I heard, TISCC were expecting to get authority over SMS as well as
1900.

Nothing deceptive about the content

Re: Unsolicited SMSes
I got this message quite a few months ago now. I called the enquiry number
in the message, and they called me back after I left a voicemail message.
They actually told me the website that the person supposedly sent it to me
from. However I would say this is just a front, and they are sending the
message out en-mass to random people.
Best thing to keep in mind with this kinda thing is that a charge can't (or
shouldn't) hit your account unless you send/reply to a SMS or sign up for
something on a website.
