Hi everyone out there, I am travelling to New Zealand later this month and
want to be able to call back home regularly, Who is offering the best call
home rates on a pre-paid card in Australia or am I better off getting a Sim
when I get to New Zealand?

    Thanks in advance

I've never used this mob, but I might someday. I've always just used my
Australian SIM and used the phone only for urgent contacts. They are
called GT Sim, and their website is www.gt-sim.com.au Calls from NZ to
Australia are 49 cents a minute.

As I said, I've never used them, so I have no idea whether they're good,
    bad or indifferent.

I used Telstra Global Roaming on my CDMA and had to use the phone several
times calling back to Aus and it cost me $150 so I do not recommend it at
    all!
You can get a NZ Vodaphone pre-paid SIM for about $30NZ with about $10 of
calls and then another $20 of calls if you register on-line (we found a
    coin-operated internet-terminal at a laundrette).
They sell them over there at electrical stores like Bond & Bond, Clive
    Anthony or Dick Smith.

Local prepaid cards won't work overseas. If you are not using a prepaid card
check with your service provider see if you can get Global Roaming activated
with your currrent service and just turn it off when you return.
