Aldi's latest catalog has a 20 million-in-one card reader that also
includes SIM cards according to the blurb.
Now, what do you see when you pop a SIM card into the slot? With the other
cards you see a normal disk drive under Explorer. Does the reader require
specific software in order to read the SIM card? Does it come with the
reader?
Not sure if I need one of these readers as my Belkin seems to do OK with
most cards that go into it. Just curious about the SIM card feature.

I bought one of these Aldi Tevion 52-in-1 card readers, and so
far it won't read any cards of any sort on my Linux system
(other card readers work OK).
It comes with a small CD containing a Windows "SIM Editor
Software" program.
I don't have a Windows system late enough to install it (needs
"2000/XP/Vista"), but the manual talks about changing PINs,
reading SMSs, and reading and changing address book entries.

It would be almost totally useless for backups.
**** all people store anything on the SIM any more. It's all stored on the
phone where there is a lot more storage space.

Err...No. Can you explain further?

Sure. It's a hypothetical SIM/MicroSD hybrid which combines the
functionality of a SIM with the storage technology of MicroSD.
