blackberry curve cannot receive sms from iphone users

I got my blackberry curve back in november and ever since i got it i couldn't receive texts from iphone users, unfortunately 50% of my contacts are just that. Ive contacted technical support about the problem only to have them tell me that everyone i talk to with an iphone needs to call at&t and find a solution..

they can receive my texts just fine and i can receive replies to any mms i send them. its just the text format that im having the problem with..

is anyone else having this issue? its extremely frustrating.
