the Z4 is a good car, IMHO, but I shy away from luxury lines, such as Acura, Audi, BMW, Infinity, Lexus, Mercedes Benz, etc. if I'm only thinking about value. Luxury brands are very nice, but I think you often do end up paying a little extra for the brand; also, the good brand can make a car seem better than it may actually be (this is a double edged sword, though).

The Honda S2000 is an EXCELLENT car, and is the honda brand does not demand the luxury car premium.

Aside from the S2000 'd also look at the Toyota MR2 Spider and even the Miata (I personally don't like them though), if you're set on roadsters.

The Subaru WRX is a tremendous value if you're looking for pure sportiness in performance and looks. VW provides a very good balance of performance and luxury, in my opinion, and engineers very good cars. I suggest the GTI or Jetta (1.8T or VR6 engine is sweet in either, Jetta Wolfsburg and GLI are great packages!), the Passat with any engine (1.8T, V6, or W8), and especially the new Touareg SUV, which is supposed to be incredible (still waiting for reliability tests, since it's brand new) and which looks alot like a $75000 Range Rover on the inside).

So yeah...the Z4 is nice...but not a perfect value in my book.

For the record, my own 1999 Passat V6 has cruised smoothly at 137mph with no modifications at all...and no sign of a maximum speed regulator (but i hear there is one). It is a well built, solid-handling car, and I can say the same about any VW...but would not recommend the flat 2.0 liter 4 cyl engine. Other than that, VW is great!!! (and no, I don't work for them).

If you like roadsters and are interested in performance, you should take a look at the Nissan 350Z roadster. I'm a little biased since I own a 350Z coupe, but it doesn't hurt to comparison shop if you are in the market for car.

    Re: is it worth buying..

I am much more comfortable with just renting a car when I need it instead of buying my own one. You can check the whole list of pros for this in articles https://www.bloglovin.com/@dorothyca...without-limits around the web and make the final decision. For me it seems much cheaper and easier overall, but you should see for yourself.
