I've been considering getting an unlocked Nokia 6340i off of eBay because the GAIT signal reaches an area I travel too often that I can't get with my GSM-only Motorola v400.
My question is, what do I have to do when I get the phone from eBay? Can I simply place my SIM card in the GAIT phone and go on, without messing up my national plan (which has no roaming charges)? Or do I need to talk to Cingular about it? I've seen some posts on this forum on GSM and GAIT, so forgive me for my questions... I'm just a little confused

gait phone Nokia 6340i
Is a nice phone, unfortunately, I just bought one off e-bay, had it unlocked, but my area doesn't use this kind of phone. So, it is useless to me. It had been locked to Cingular. FYI, the other phone I bought off e-bay was unlocked , my sim card worked easily, but only through roaming. Cingular couldn't help me, said it wasn't one of their phones. On e-bay, the box said both would work in the area of my zip code.
