I wanted to know the best phone for internet use?

I was going to switch to cingular but i was wondering what is the best possible phone i should get if i want to hook up the cell phone to my laptop as a modem, as far as better.

Wouldn't it be better if you were to find a wireless internet provider and use a wireless connection rather then using your mobile as a modem?

You can buy pc cards that plug into the laptop and will connect via the cell service to the internet. And depending upon where you are, you can get broadband speeds. Of course the service is separate from a regular cell phone plan. You can also connect many cell phones the way you want. What you will need for that is cell phone that is capable of the highest speed you want, a data plan that will allow you to do that, and a phone that will have easy to get drivers. Most cell phones work pretty good, if they are capable of the speeds you want. But they all will need a special cable, infrared or bluetooth. And drivers for them may cost extra.
On the other hand, the smart phones usually come with everything you need to do this. They cost more, but will do more, and oftentimes have the cables and software needed to connect your laptop to the internet.

It's limited. He should get a cell phone that is capable of using as a modem.

For me, I will get a MDA from T-mobile and use that. They also cheaper than Cingular for monthly payments.

Like the other poster said, get a smart phone. It should work.

I used own a cell phone that is capable of using it as a modem and it's not a smart phone at all. So they might have cell phones that can do it.

well i need to switch to cingular regardless at the moment because of lack of reception in san francisco unless you have cingular as your provider

just didn't know if there was a paticular type of model that would be better compared to a blackberry or a pda phone

i have always have had full bars all over bay(including SF) with all my phones(every network) except cingular tdma
