I'd really appreciate any help on this. My old Motorola v60i broke recently and I'm looking for a replacement. I'm stuck with Cingular as I have a couple of lines still under contract with them.
I went to their store and checked online and was amazed at how few phones they have available. I was hoping to find a clamshell model similar to the mostly stainless steel v60i, but all they had were plastic models that look and feel incredibly cheap.
I'm not interested in a Razr as the slim, clamshell-type fits my needs better. Any suggestions on a nice GSM phone that'll work with Cingular? The Nokia 8801 is nice, but too pricey.
Thanks very much.

Don't know of any other clamshell phone with a metal housing. The only one I know is the Audiovox SMT5600, but it's a bar phone...really nice Windows smartphone. You might also want to call Cingular because there are some phones that are still carried by them that's not listed online.

Re: Any non-plastic phones available anymore?
Thanks for the reply. Seems like I may not have many options. I've called Cingular and they say they have even fewer models available than they show online- the LGs for example were out of stock and possibly discontinued.
That Nokia is stunning, but the day I pay $650 for a phone is not quite here yet.
Maybe I can rip out the guts on my v60 and stuff in the GSM guts of a new phone?
By the way, how do you like the W600i?
Much appreciated.

Re: Any non-plastic phones available anymore?
Thanks for the suggestion. I'd jump on a replacement v60i but I'm told it's a TDMA and Cingular will only let me add GSM phones to my current plan. Foiled again!
I still think you could line up my old color v60i against 95% of new cell phones and it would more than hold its own appearance-wise, if not feature-wise. I just find stainless steel so much more appealing than plastic. (I sound like I have some sort of v60 obsession. Maybe I should seek help )
Sorry- new here- thanks for explaining the policy about keeping discussions in their proper category.

Haydeno,
I appreciate the suggestion, but I have no idea what you mean by this. Are you saying there's a way to use a v60i with GSM somehow?
Also found the Nokia 6170 with stainless construction. Sadly, it's not supported by Cingular and I can't find anyone who sells an unlocked version (I have not idea if I'm using any of these terms correctly )
